Not really. Look at the muslim holy book(I can't spell it correctly which is why i do not type it but i do not what it is called) It says to kill infidels will secure you a place in heaven. Also look around you in the world many of our current problems are caused by muslims now I am not racist I have several friends who are muslim however look at the middle east I promise you if Isreal were to lay down here arms tomorrow shw would be destroyed by the muslim miltias within a week however if the muslims laid down there arms there would be peace. Also you don't see Christians rioting when degratory cartoons are made about Christ but most of the muslim world got violently upset over those cartoons in the danish newspapers. I can go on and on the fact remains Islam is a violent religion no amount of PC(Political correctness) or burying your head in the sand will change that

If you want to use the Middle East as an example, you're in trouble. All the religious groups are fighting over there. Claiming one would keep going if the others stopped is awfully hard to do.

Now I don't know exactly what the Koran says, but I've heard from several sources that the lines about killing infidels are either misinterpreted or taken out of context by the extremist groups. Personally, I've never seen the actual line to say one way or another, but that's what I've been told by at least one Muslim I used to know and heard that prominent leaders of Islam have said.

Islam is the number one religion in the world (in terms of believers). A relatively small number of them frequently get belligerent (sp?). It's just that those who do are the ones about whom you hear the most on the news. It's like the way not all Catholic priests molest altar boys, but the ones you hear about on the news do.

Are Christians just as violent as Muslims? Look up "honor killings" and decide for yourself. The UN reports 185 Muslim women were killed for family honor in 2006.

captpicard is being judged too harshly. He can't spell Quaran/Karan/Qaran, because nobody spells it the same way.(That includes Isamic websites.)

When he tries to explain that the Bible says murder and killing are two different things, he is told that the New Testiment is all that counts for Christians.
When he speaks about the Quaran/Karan/Qaran, The Old Testiment is rubbed in his face as being bloody.

The biggest difference between Islam and Christianity is that Christianity has been through a reformation. Islam has not. Christians no longer strictly adhere to the Old Testiment. Muslims do adhere to Islam's equivalent.

1. You're right. You never did say that Muslim was a race, but it isn't a religion either. Islam is the religion. Muslim are the people who practice it.

2. Yes. We are all judgemental on this blog. We also prize logical reasoning. You may have had a valid point to your post, but it was lost in the generalizations you made at the end.

I have a suggestion for you. If you want to make a point. Approach it from the side. Ask questions that lead to the answer. This post may have been something like this:

Islam is an idiotic, violent, irrational belief system. But, if you want to get into a 'whose religion is more violent" pissing match you'll have a tough time comparing body counts.
