Brandon: More new features
Ok, so I got a little creative, and implemented some simple tags to make editing posts and comments a little easier.

I think the regex's and recursion works decently now. And I implemented a code tag, so here is a short tutorial on how to make this new stuff work.

HTML still works, I may remove it at some point due to security concerns, but, I'm lazy, so probably not.

Code:

Vent2's quick and dirty BBCode hack.

[b]text[/b] - [b] - Bold

[i]text[/i] - [i] - Italic

[img]http://pathto.img[/img] - [img] - Image, place path to image within the [img][/img] tags

[url]http://www.site.url[/url] - [url] Creates a link to the location between the [url][/url] tags.

[url="http://www.site.url"]Link[/url] = [url] Creates a link to the site with the name contained between the tags

[quote]Quote[/quote] - [quote] Quotes text.

[quote="Brandon"]Quote[/quote] - [quote] - Quotes text and attribues the quote to the name in quotes.

[code]Code!
- Code:

 - The code block, to show off code and stuff.

Also, HTML does not work inside [code] blocks, for example.

<a href="http://www.sevensoupcans.com/vent2">Vent</a>

So, some quick examples
Bold text with Italics inside the tag

Quote Darth Vader
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Vent 2

Ok: I am done, I promise

Brandon: Piece of Cake

So, I got the new Cake album a couple weeks ago. This one is called B-Sides and Rarities, and is pretty much a collection of covers and a couple originals. Overall the album has a bit too much country for my taste. However, any band that puts Mahna-Mahna on their album gets credit in my book. Basically, though, it's Cake. The live version of War Pigs which ends the album is a bit better than the studio version that begins it.

Another bonus is the scratch-and-sniff cover art. I got roses, or something. Not as many car references in this album, but, there is the cover art, as you can see above, or to the left, or whatever.

Anyway, I liked the album, but not as much as their previous release, Pressure Chief. I'd say its a must for fans, but if you aren't sure you should check out the samples of the tracks on the website

Mmmmm: Cake
Simpsons: Movie, tonight.
Midnight: showing? Should I go?

Brandon: Tweaks
So, I tweaked the site a little bit. You will now see that if you click on a link from the User Journals sidebar module it will take you to that post, instead of just to the users page.

I also tweaked and updated the photo albums module. Now, any user with a Picasa Web Albums account can add a link to their public albums on their page.

Please let me know if you find any bugs and/or issues with the changes.

Feeling: Tired, yet accomplished.
I might: Add an atom feed to the site.
Probably: not, though.

Brandon: Lern me a book!
So, I read Company by Max Barry on the flight back from NH to ID. Its really a good book, and a quick read. Especially if you like to poke fun at corporate types and whatnot.

You should also read Mr. Barry's book Syrup if you ever have to do any marketing.

Brandon: The Nintendo DS Browser
So, I'm (slowly) typing this post on my Nintendo DS Iite. The handwritiny recognition is only so-so. The built-in keyboard is a little better, but not great. I do have to say that the thing is extremely slow, but, it does do what it says; that is to provide basic access to the web. I wish that the memory expansion pack was about ten times bigger. It teds to fill up often. I can say though that Vent does render properly and quickly on it, though. Now I just want to see how Vent works n an iPhone.

Happy 4th everyone.

UPDATE: I did find out that the browser has some limited javascript support. No flash support, however.

Browsing: Slowly
