David: The Battle of New Orleans
These people are obviously going through some serious shit right now. I am completely unable to fathom how horrific the situation is down there.

I've been reading a lot of blog entries on this subject over the course of the past few hours and am mostly disappointed. There's a shit-ton of tragedy going on and already the internet is full of asshats who think that they can judge the people both in charge and in the center of the situation. Presumably these people are sitting in the comforts of their own home or at the local Starbucks sipping on their caffe latte or overpriced sugar water while they analyze the psyche of people enduring a situation they have never come close to experiencing.

Then there's the fuck the government types who are already starting up the Bush bashing and making a fucking hurricane a partisan issue. For Christ's sake people, there's a time and place for everything and this isn't it. Stick to Iraq, there's plenty of fuel for the fire there.

So the next time you fill up the tank on whatever tin shitbox you drive around and feel like bitching about the price of gasoline, shut the fuck up. There's bigger problems in the world right now. Hundreds of people are dead/dying at this moment, both in New Orleans and over seas in a country that resents them.

Sip your mochachino and fuck off.

I agree with you 110%, Jestmeister.

To me, it's just a shame we need catastrophes for people to reach out to one another. Shit happens to people everyday.

I blame Al Qaeda. Those cunning bastards hijacked a hurricane this time. We should bomb Iran.

Filling The Bowl <---Is anyone really suprised by this?
Every year during hurricane season I hear about Naw'lins being under sea level. Reporters warn about what would happen if there was a direct hit.
Now I've heard that the federal government should have done more.
Mardi' Gras brings in over a billion dollars to the local economy each year.
Maybe if they had taxed the crap out of drunken kids in town for a titty show they could have built the levees higher without federal help.
I do feel sorry for all those poor families out of jobs.
I think we need a "New Deal" type of plan.
Give them Government jobs, building a wall.
Not around Naw'lins, but along the U.S.A-Mexican Border.
Also, if Naw'lins is rebuilt, they should use it as a landfill for the entire Gulf Coast clean-up first. That might get it above sea level.
