I scored an original NES and a bunch of games over the weekend for the best price.

FREE!

Of course, it's suffering from the classic NES problem, a flashing power light. I've tried every trick I accumulated over the years for getting cartridges to play, but so far to no avail. When I get some time, I'm going to open it up and give it a good cleaning and check-up.

I also got an original GameBoy and some games with the deal. The GameBoy Advance played GameBoy games in the same slot. The Nintendo DS plays GBA games in a secondary slot. However, due to a little change in the cartridge slot interior, the DS doesn't play GameBoy games. Why Nintendo?! I gave away my Advance! I want to play Link's Awakening on my DS, but you've forbidden that sort of backward's compatibility, forcing me to stare at the ugly screen of an old school GB.

How did it come about that you got all that stuff, some of which even apparently works, for free?

Five finger discount.

Nah, I got it all from a friend. It was going to be thrown out.

Five-finger discount would be pretty hard, since none of it is sold in most stores these days. Maybe a really hardcore second-hand section, but even that would be unlikely.
