David: An Email I Received Today (At Work, From a Business Contact)
Subject: Fw: PLEEEEEEASE REEEEEAD! IT WAS ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA TODAYSHOW] -

SORRY EVERY BODY.. JUST HAD TO TAKE THE CHANCE!!!

I'm an attorney, And I know the law. This thing is for real. Rest assured AOL and Intel will follow through with their promises for fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suit similar to the one filed by PepsiCo against General Electric not too long ago.

Dear Friends: Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates sharing his fortune. If you ignore this, You will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test. When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (If you are a Microsoft Windows user) For a two weeks time period. For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00 For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and for every third person that receives it, You will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a check.

Regards. Charles S Bailey General Manager Field Operations

Thought this was a scam myself, But two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on. Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I received a check for $24,800.00. You need to respond before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this, Bill gates is the man. It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people as possible. You are bound to get at least $10,000.00.

We're not going to help them out with their e-mail beta test without getting a little something for our time. My brother's girlfriend got in on this a few months ago. When I went to visit him for the Baylor/UT game, she showed me her check. It was for the sum of $4,324.44 and was stamped "Paid In Full".

Holy shit, this has been on Good Morning America Todayshow? Already I want to know more!

SORRY EVERY BODY.. JUST HAD TO TAKE THE CHANCE!!!

What chance? This sounds exciting!

I'm an attorney, And I know the law.

An important trait, for one in your profession.

This thing is for real. Rest assured AOL and Intel will follow through with their promises for fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suit similar to the one filed by PepsiCo against General Electric not too long ago.

What's for real? Oh, I'm getting more excited! I remember that lawsuit too. No companies are every gonna get sued again after that one!

Dear Friends: Please do not take this for a junk letter.

Well, since we're friends, I won't.

Bill Gates sharing his fortune.

Is this the caption to a picture that was missing?

If you ignore this, You will repent later.

...and thou shalt be saved.

Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies

Tell me about it. They own all the internets.

...and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

Sending emails makes Internet Explorer the most widely used program? That's awesome! I wish I'd known this sooner.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it

Damn, those guys are everywhere!

(If you are a Microsoft Windows user)

Sorry you Mac and Linux losers!

For a two weeks time period. For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00

Sweet, I know people!

For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00

Damn, that's a pretty steep drop off...

...and for every third person that receives it, You will be paid $241.00.

Jesus, you might as well not give me anything at that point if all you can spare is $241.00

Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a check.

I'm assuming via email?

Thought this was a scam myself,

You fucking conspiracy theorist!

But two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on. Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I received a check for $24,800.00.

That'll teach you to be a doubting...whoever you are.

You need to respond before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this, Bill gates is the man.

Well, being part of the AOL/Intel/Microsoft Internet Company, I'm sure he's loaded.

It's all marketing expense to him.

Damn straight, and you can never pay too much for marketing.

Please forward this to as many people as possible. You are bound to get at least $10,000.00.

Damn, I could use it.

We're not going to help them out with their e-mail beta test without getting a little something for our time.

That's right! We're not going to just blindly forward emails. They're gonna have to pay us!

My brother's girlfriend got in on this a few months ago. When I went to visit him for the Baylor/UT game, she showed me her check. It was for the sum of $4,324.44 and was stamped "Paid In Full".

Why did she still have the check if it had been "Paid In Full"? Wait a second, I'm starting to have doubts about the validity of this...wait, what am I saying?! That guy up above was having doubts too, and look what happened to him when he saw the light! I'm sending this to everybody!

in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

But I don't use explorer for mail, I use it as a browser. Is there something like this for Microsoft Outlook users, or is that not part of the internet company?

I'm going to hell.

I run Safari on Vista, on Parallels, on an Intel Macintosh that I access using VNC over a SSH connection on my 386 in my parents basement on a 2400 baud modem.

No, I lied. Firefox, on Vista, on an intel PC. I still havent got my Macbook, damnit.

jesus. is this thing still going around? I fist saw it around 1999

They're all still going around. As long as there are people left who think they can get something for nothing.
