David: Do I Need It?
No.

Do I want it?

Yes!

I'm holding out. I'm waiting. I'm gonna be patient.

I'm gettin' me one of them Intel Macs once they're out and running. Hopefully the wait for an Intel iMac won't be too terribly long.

I may have to go to the Apple Store and play.

In other news, I got a promotion at work. Now I can be even more of a prick with less threat of retribution. After all, besides the extra dough, that's all a promotion's really good for.

//Note to self: Remember to come back here and insert some "offhand" comment about your degree when you think of a clever way of phrasing it.

So yesterday Nintendo unveiled the controller for it's upcoming Revolution system. See it here.

My jury is still out on this one, and I think that it'll remain that way until I actually get to use one of these.

David: Creepy People
The latest in Katrina charity stuff. http://www.viewaskew.com/katrina/

I'm as big a Kevin Smith fan as the next guy, but the bidding on going to BBQ at his house is just ridiculous. He makes humorous movies. Great! Is it worth $7000 to watch a fat man eat a home cooked hamburger? Doubtful.

I worry about the person that would drop that kind of money for something like this. It's got be a creepy proposition for Smith as well. I mean, if somebody spends that kind of change just to be invited to your house, well, either they're rich or they're, you know, bananas.

David: The Battle of New Orleans
These people are obviously going through some serious shit right now. I am completely unable to fathom how horrific the situation is down there.

I've been reading a lot of blog entries on this subject over the course of the past few hours and am mostly disappointed. There's a shit-ton of tragedy going on and already the internet is full of asshats who think that they can judge the people both in charge and in the center of the situation. Presumably these people are sitting in the comforts of their own home or at the local Starbucks sipping on their caffe latte or overpriced sugar water while they analyze the psyche of people enduring a situation they have never come close to experiencing.

Then there's the fuck the government types who are already starting up the Bush bashing and making a fucking hurricane a partisan issue. For Christ's sake people, there's a time and place for everything and this isn't it. Stick to Iraq, there's plenty of fuel for the fire there.

So the next time you fill up the tank on whatever tin shitbox you drive around and feel like bitching about the price of gasoline, shut the fuck up. There's bigger problems in the world right now. Hundreds of people are dead/dying at this moment, both in New Orleans and over seas in a country that resents them.

Sip your mochachino and fuck off.

This is what happens to home furnishings when left in the sun.
