David: The iPad (And Why One Might Show Up In My House)
The iPad is not for me.

I have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone sitting in front of me as I type this. I'm deeply in love with both of them (sometimes, when nobody is looking, I soul kiss my iPhone). I use the MBP for accomplishing many productivity tasks, but my main reason for owning both devices is simply to fuel my love of the internet. The decision to break down and buy an iPhone came one day when my Comcast internets were down, and I desperately needed to get online for...something.

My wife has an iBook G4 I bought for her back in 2004. It wasn't fast then, it's positively slow now. It's running 10.4, but I think it's going to give itself a hernia soon. She complains about it frequently, but doesn't really want to spend the money on a new computer.

My wife uses her iBook for almost nothing but viewing the internet and checking her email. Any rare productivity tasks that she needs to take care of are usually accomplished through my MBP. This got me to thinking that she might be the kind of person that this type of device was for. I showed her the promo video on the Apple web site.

Yup, this thing is for her.

So, when the opportunity exists, I think we'll make a trek to the Apple Store to check one out. My biggest concern is the onscreen keyboard, but I'm guessing that Bluetooth connectivity will allow it to pair with our already existing wireless keyboard.

I don't know. I still think it's an odd product. I'm surprised to find a potential user for it in my own house. We'll see...

David: The Swelling
So, as part of my process for moving forward with .45WTD, I decided to sit down and write an outline for how I saw the story progressing. This thing was never envisioned as a perpetual story, and so I knew that there would be a distinct beginning and end.

Not until I sat down and wrote an outline incorporating all the ideas that I've had, however, did I realize how truly big this thing is.

At this point, I think it's trying to be a novel. I don't really want it to be a novel. I don't want to write a novel.

The story keeps coming anyway. I just hate the process of trying to put it into words. I wish I could just mind meld with everyone and have them instantly know the whole thing (because, save for a lot of detail, the whole thing is written in my head).

David: Mixing Drinks, Golf, and .45 Ways to Die
Ever notice how when you're making a bourbon and cola (Maker's Mark and Pepsi being my current couple) the first glass starts out "bourbon to the ice", the second ends up with a little more, and by the third you're mixing 1:1.

In stranger news, I've taken up the game of golf. I'd played a few times in my youth, but never got that into it. Then a few months ago I was invited to a large game by a friend at work. Since my PXC buddy Noah (also a novice golfer) was also going to make the trip, I decided to give golf another shot. I played (and still play) horribly, but for some reason am really attracted to the game at this point. This fact continues to confound me.

Lastly, .45 Ways to Die has become a solo effort. I've had one or two incredibly swell ideas, but they're going to take some time (and software upgrades) to execute. Hopefully I'll have something tangible within a year.
