This year, I've been reading the classics that I somehow missed. so far:
Grapes of Wrath, On the Road, Dharma Bums, To Kill a Mockingbird, Atlas Shrugged, Fountainhead, The Man in the High Castle, and Pride and Prejudice.

After that, I plan on either continuing the classics with Lord of the Flies or or go modern with Wild.

That mini list is mostly good. I would skip both Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead. You can get a better feel for Rand's sociopathic philosophy by reading We the Living and Ideal. It will be much quicker, and you get your fill of her (lack of) Style without all the pain of the longer works.

I also recommend he zombified version of Pride and Prejudice.

And definitely read Lord of the Flies. The Butterfly Revolution is a great book to follow that one, IMO
