Gatiss and gothic horror are a great combo. So much of his stuff on League was homage to horror classics, and his story credits on Who and Sherlock were often flavored by that same influence.

Moffat is great at tone but terrible at story. The Smith era of Who suffered by everything being the most important thing to ever happen. He toned that down for a couple seasons in the Capaldi era to great benefit (and Capaldi was just an amazing Doctor), but closed out his tenure at Who with more bootstrapped changing the beginning ridiculousness. I think his go bigger attitude crept into the last season of Sherlock to much too great a degree, and it was just painfully cartoonish.

So, I'm cautiously optimistic, but would much rather see Gatiss doing something like this with the League.

I am also optimistic, but tend to be guarded about these things since I am so often disappointed by things.
