I just started watching The Wire.
I was so happy to hear Waits version of the theme pop up in season 2.

Apparently the Mayor character is based on Martin O'Malley- he was interviewed a bunch by the writers.

I just started watching this week (HD remaster popped up on my HBO Now banner). I didn't even realize that was Waits, but it was jarring after 13 episodes of the previous version.

I'm having a hard time getting into season 2, to be honest. Everybody seems to be in a really weird place.
