It's a bit ridiculous that it's taken this long. I've wanted Wacom-like drawing capabilities on an iPad for...how many years has it been since they introduced the original?

I've been looking at the Cintiq companion, but I'm not a Windows person.
This hits that price range spot on. The only problem is that it's still iOS, but that's not a deal breaker if the apps come through like they are promising.
Adobe says full versions of their suite. :)

So...you want a bigger iPad that can't run any real software that costs as much as a Surface Pro that *can* run real software? I'm confused.

There is no way Adobe will be able to provide versions of their software that are comparable to the full versions. Perhaps they will offload some of their computation into the cloud, but do you really want to open up a huge image with lots of layers on a device with an anemic CPU and only 4gb of ram?

I just don't understand what niche it fills.

It can't run real software? Is that the No True Scotsman fallacy that I've heard so much about? Mobile software is still real.

In short, I can't stand windows machines. I've never trusted them, and I never will. I could never forgive them for the death of my boy... Sorry, slipped into Undiscovered Country for a minute. Where was I?

I've been a Mac person for years. It's what I'm comfortable with. I use a $10,000 mac for editing at work. If I want power, I go there. My personal computer is a 2010 macbook pro. I also have a mac mini at home. None of them have ever given me much trouble. My daughter has had a couple windows machines. She got them because the were less expensive and did the same thing as a mac. Both were fidgety things that have required periodic forays into the command line along with hours of research on the web to troubleshoot.

I prefer the fit and finish of Apple products.

I have been thinking about how I use my macbook for quite a while: writing, limited photoshop, research, and media consumption. An iPad will do 99% of what I need. I have also been wanting to replace my wacom, since it stopped working. The new iPad fits that need as well.

What I don't understand is the confusion when Apple announces a new product. Do you go up to people that drive a Lexus and tell them that they should have gotten an Accord because it does the same essential function for a lower price?
