So, I got passed over for a creative director position last year. It was given to a guy that wanted the title more than the job. I was unhappy. I have more years with the company, more management experience, and I have demonstrably done more to shape our creative department than he has. The only thing he beats me at is self aggrandizement.
Our department has gone from seeking to be the most original in the market, to glorifying downloaded presets as"creative solutions".

Now our manager has quit.
If the creative director applies and gets the newly vacated management position, his lack of leadership abilities will become obvious and he will likely fail. As part of the creative department, I will suffer.

If I apply and get the position, I will have the headache of managing a creative department tied to a dying medium: the local television commercial.

I get paid well where I'm at. I get good benefits.
I'm not disgruntled, but I don't feel any joy in the work.
Damn.

They make me miss the scorchers we had here.
On facebook, bumper sticker statements are considered sound reasoning.

while clever, is not a valid point. It's on par with "The bible says Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve"

I attempted to repudiate Julia Roberts' statement.
Repudiate comes between republican and repugnant.

Every day I come into Gotham and I pick up your trail. And we go out. We trade a few shots, and a few laughs, and it’s great. But you know what the best part of my day is?
