Vent: A blog, of sorts.
Kick names, take ass.
The 3 Stooges
Archimago at 8-23-2012 11:40 pm
I had my doubts about this movie. All of my adult life, I've dismissed the Stooges. When they were mentioned, I would say,"I'm a Marx Brothers fan".
I was wrong about not liking the Stooges. Christopher and I watched it and giggled all the way through. It reminded me that at one time, when I was a kid, before I developed my bias towards the Marx Brothers, I did like the 3 Stooges.

FRIDAY the 13

Watch out fro Mrs. Vorhees. Sure she cooks a mean sloppy joe, but she won't let anyone go swimming.

Another Earth

Good sci-fi is hard to find.
I,ve mentioned a couple of my favorites before: Moon an Man From Earth. Another Earth has made my list. It is an extreme slow burn. It's really a drama set to the backdrop of sci- fi. Another strong point for me is that it doesn't answer all your questions.
Take my advice. See this movie.

Can't see Vent
Archimago at 7-10-2012 2:44 am
Seems that I can only see Vent when I'm away from my home network.
Had to hit my neighbors wifi to post this.
Are you not really supposed to connect via soupcan?

Ya Know?

New posthumous Joey Ramone album.
It's full of demos and unreleased stuff.

I like hearing Joey again, but this album feels overproduced. It's just too clean.
Most of the music has been re-recorded. I would rather hear the raw cuts from the studio with just Joey.

My favorite song on the album is Make me tremble. It is a happy silly song that isn't too slick.
Waiting For That Railroad and although it's my favorite, it grates on my nerves. The problem is Joey harmonizing with Joey as a counterpoint. Anyone who likes the Ramones knows that Joey didn't have the greatest voice. This song would have been better served with the solo front track.

The final track, Life's a Gas handles the harmony much better, because Joey sings the harmony on top of the melody instead of counterpoint. The subject matter is bittersweet considering that this album is posthumous.

Final thoughts:
This album is overproduced.
This album is not the best of Joey Ramone.
This album is still better than most of the crap playing on the radio today.
