2-HeadedGiraffe: Modern Machinary
I was using a machine today at work that was labeled "Made in Western Germany." If I'm not mistaken, that means the machinary we're using was likely made before 1990, when there was still an east and west part of Germany. Sixteen years old, for those of you who are even less mathematically inclined than I am, if such a thing is possible.
We're on the cutting edge, here (no pun intended, even though this particular machine was cutting a groove into the bottoms of boards, fairly close to the edge).
(edit: the wall came down in 1989)

I'm still editing video on a 9 year old system. It may not be 17 years, but I imagine computers go out of date faster than groove cutting machines. If there's a rubberized "safety" edge, that's the one my company is on.
