Wow...after a quick search on Wikipedia:

Tesla worked for Edison in Europe but was never paid for his services. Then Edison offered him $50k to redesign his DC electric dynamos, which Tesla did, but Edi stiffed him again. Then Westinghouse, who the video mentions, got in touch with Tesla and got the patent for the AC motor.
