Don't worry about advertising on Vent...Nathan Tyree does it all the time. There's ample precedent.

I believe the "hate to advertise" predicated the advertisment due to the fact that, in the past, fuzmeister had chided Nathan for incessent self-promotion. By saying that he "hated" what he was doing, he was seeking before the fact absolution for the bit of hypocrisy which was about to take place. At the very least, it was a jab at Nathan's self-advertising habits.

I must say, if you truly hated to advertise, something you have a choice not to do, you wouldn't do it. Predicating an optional action by saying you hate to do it is akin to saying, "I hate to punch myself in the face" and then ramming a fist into your nose.

You make a good point, Jestmeister. You are also quite observant of my behavior in the past which I admire you for (your memory). I guess that by saying "I hate to do this," it is more of a phrase. I don't hate posting in regards to my life (or advertising), but if it were up to me I'd rather have something different to post. Maybe that's what I mean. Quite frankly, I don't mind reading Nathan's posts regarding stories and where they've been published. However, I would rather read something giving us insight into what makes him write as he does - or about the processes he has to go through to get his works out. That's all, I guess.

I would say that Nathan writes the way he does because he's a shitty writer.
