I was more offended by his response when Jay suggested that the AIG execs go to jail. Obama mentions that there were no laws broken

He admits that there were no laws broken, but that they intend to get the bonuses back for moral and ethical reasons. I don't care for how that sounds. We are a nation of laws. If you don't like how the laws are being used, change them, but don't expect those changes to be retro-active.

Personally, I think that congress knew about the bonuses and left them in as a red herring. If they get us mad about the excesses of Wall Street bail-outs, we'll not pay attention to the larger excesses of the stimulus package itself.

Was I offended no. Did I think it was a stupid and tastless comment yes.
The one thing that bothers me is that if it had been a republican that made this comment the media would of crucified him. If this had been Bush when he was in office, or even Mccain or some other RINO all the various special interest and rights groups would of been up in arms calling for his apology ect ect. However with President Obama we are told hey its just a joke get over it. And that is what bothers me.

I think it's great that the president can make a joke without it being blown out of proportion. Freedom of humor might not be explicitly in the Bill of Rights, but it should be.
