fuzmeister: Biden Won
Though I'm still incredibly confused and depressed by the sheer number of people who still voted for Trump.
Are these just single issue voters? Is our country really way more racist and evil than I ever believed possible in the 21st century?
My brain hurts from thinking about it.
I hope Biden and Harris do well, but even if they do a wonderful job, there's a large chunk of the American population that still needs to be reprogrammed following the Trump cult of personality.

A: Yes, but not like you think. Their single issue is, "Democrats are evil". They get this from a steady diet of church, cable news, and Facebook.
Q: Is our country really way more racist and evil than I ever believed possible in the 21st century?
A: Yes to the racist part. Despite what many of us now know to be publicly acceptable, privately there are a large number of Americans, especially in rural areas, who view urban minorities as a problem. They get this from a steady diet of church, cable news, and Facebook. The scary thing is, most of them aren't inherently evil, there notion of "good" has just been altered with intention.
Just remember, Trump is a symptom of the disease. The disease is a reverse "Age of Enlightenment" (Age of Endarkenment?). Brandon hit the nail on the head in his post. We imagined the internet to be a vast meritocracy where the best ideas and notions would rise to the top of human consciousness. Instead it became a race to the bottom for cheap entertainment.
They've married their ideals with a dopamine hit in the form of memes. They've oversimplified ideas to the point of absurdity, but they've done it for so long it now appears clever. Tech plays a big roll in how we come back from this, and I don't have any worthy ideas.
