fuzmeister: Fear of Flying? More Like Fear of Falling!
So here I am in central time. I'm quite tired. Flying is frightening. Bismarck isn't too bad.

So I'm sitting here at the gate awaiting United Flight 447. I rarely fly so I'm a bit concerned - though it really doesn't matter since there is 0% control when flying.

I got my car out of the Pittsburgh Impound today - only ended up costing around 120$. Still annoying, but better than I thought it would be. There was some lady urinating next to where my ride to the impound parked. Classy.

I may post again in Denver. 'Til then...

fuzmeister: Damn It.
What a terrible day today... I wish I could post something good - to be honest, I am jealous that David beat Metroid Prime 3 already and Kyle is further than I am. Oh, well. That's life sometimes.

Reason things are so bad today is that my car is currently impounded in the Pittsburgh auto impound until Tuesday at 8am. I was supposed to fly out of Pittsburgh on business to North Dakota Tuesday at 10am. Obviously, making that was going to be next to impossible.

So I rescheduled my flight for later. My bigger concern right now is the 200+ dollars I'm going to have to pay the city of Pittsburgh to get my automobile back. We tried a lot today including begging the police. What luck that tomorrow is a holiday and, of course, I'll still be paying for it to be in the impound even though I can't pick it up.

I'm going to say that the fault of the traffic violation is 50/50. It was my fault that I parked on the street where I did. However, the yellow paint was all but worn off and we didn't see it in the dark. Also - there's apparently a driveway belonging to some old recluse there. I couldn't tell really - bricks overgrown with grass... in downtown Pittsburgh. Strange really. Fortunately, Kate and I had some really good friends and I'll more than likely be able to make it home and, hopefully, get a ride to the impound at 8am on Tuesday morning.

Regardless, it just sucks. I'm going to be paying out the ass for a parking violation.

Here's hoping the tow truck dudes didn't damage my ride.

So I found a site that has all of the old Sim games from Maxis available to download - the stuff from 1987 until 1997. Probably the golden years of this series.

If you haven't played these, check them out. Each one is a really great game.

fuzmeister: Five Day Weekend. w00t!
Kyle stopped by my place in Western PA on his way back to university. This afternoon we were at the local Target store and they had put out Metroid Prime 3 early. We picked up our copies a few hours earlier than planned (we had been considering a midnight pick up at Wal-Mart). So far, it's pretty cool - kind of hard to make a really good statement about it since I've only played for maybe an hour to an hour and a half. I will put everyone's fears aside though and say this: the controls do rock... A level of control in a first person console game I've never felt before.

This morning I basically laid the groundwork for Kyle's web comic in PHP. I am proud of myself as I didn't think I could figure a way to do it with the naming convention and such for the images. In the end it looks good so far. Another accomplishment involving this week's house-guest involved getting his new GPS hooked up - it's a real cool unit... it's really hot outside though so the suction cup technology is not living up to the hype.

Saturday night I played a small little acoustic set at Duane and Steve's house-warming party. Dave Trinh (ex-States of Melba) joined me on saxophone and Tony Regola played bass. Duane wrote a review of the set and you can read it here. It seemed everyone had a fun time. There is a video of me playing Power Lines with Dave and Tony floating around on YouTube; I'm too lazy to get the exact link at the moment though.

Kate started her last year of university this week. Pretty crazy how fast time flies. She's going to be busy doing R.A. stuff again for a while, but it's well worth it for the compensation.

Also, my hair is growing back.
