fuzmeister: Brilliant Blues
Once again, I've been negligent in posting anything about another great record. The record is Electric Mud by Muddy Waters - released in 1968. I would recommend this LP for blues fans, but not necessarily fans of Muddy's. The style meshes together blues with some hallmark psychedelic stuff of the era - not unlike Cream. The way this album was mixed though gives me chills. The bass is so fat you almost just take a bite out of the riffs. The guitar is fuzzier than a woolly mammoth at times, but always in the chaos there is organization. It's also a very rhythm-oriented record - I remember seeing on a PBS special one time that it inspired various hip-hop artists rhythm wise decades after its release. Specifically, I remember Public Enemy mentioning it's importance for them.
Not often enough do I recommend albums on Vent - I've got to start changing that, because some of this music just hits me so hard and doesn't let go.
Mood: Washed Out
Music: Muddy Waters - The Same Thing
