Today I began reading Art Spiegelman's graphic novel Maus. I got both volumes for Christmas today and I'm about halfway through the first. So far, it's an interesting in terms of storytelling. Some of the devices I've heard are used in the second volume should be interesting too.

If you're a graphic novel fan at all interested in non-fiction (sort of, yeah), check these out sometime.

About half an hour until one of the strangest days of the year. People from ages 7 to 77 anticipate this day with quiet (and sometimes not so quiet) delight. I don't feel quite the same as I used to regarding this time of the year. Tonight, my dad showed us old home movies that were shot in the late fifties when he was younger. It made me recollect the past. I just wish I had five minutes with John. Five minutes more to talk to him about where things are going almost seven years later.

That would be one hell of a Christmas present.

fuzmeister: Hollywood Ruins a Classic Yet Again and a Pioneer Passes

It seems like Hollywood is ready to piss on yet another classic cartoon favorite. This time around they're preparing to dazzle us with a bastardized Underdog film in '07.

In other news, Joseph Barbera passed away the other day. I always enjoyed Tom and Jerry - but, honestly, Warner Bros. stuff was just more entertaining to me as a kid - even more than Disney, I think. Still sad to see one of the pioneers of modern animation pass.
