fuzmeister: Compare & Contrast
I like music videos. A lot of them have the potential to be works of art while still promoting the single in question. In fact, the first band to have "promotional" videos is one of my favorites - The Beatles. Anywho, I've recently had to opportunity to view to music videos for recent songs (one yet to be released).
The first is the music video for The Flaming Lips'
Yeah Yeah Yeah Song (With All Your Power). This album is great with production techniques that sound vintage and new at the same time. If I did LSD, I'd probably never have this record leave my stereo. It's psychedelic, catchy, and just plain good. The video involves all these people getting various types of food to them and being chased (I.E. lady getting donuts taped to her and cops chasing her) - it's unique.
The second music video I am ashamed to say I dislike. It is the forthcoming video for the Red Hot Chili Peppers'
Tell Me Baby. This track is from their recently released
Stadium Arcadium album and, while I love that album, this video is just crap compared to what they are capable of and have done in the past. The video feels American Idol-ish and shows the band and a bunch of walk-ons performing the same song until, at the end, they are all doing it on stage at once. The Peppers are one of my favorite bands, but this video is just plain dope, yo.
Don't let me tell you though - take a peek for yourself.
