fuzmeister: When Video Games Attack
It's a proven fact that frustrating video games are more satisfying... at least for me. You see, games like Ikaruga or Megaman can be very difficult at times, but you ultimately get your money's worth and they last a long time. Currently (well, since September), I am playing Nintendo's Battalion Wars. Now, every review I've read says that the game is rather easy and most of the time I would agree the game's difficulty level is fair. Some of the missions are very annoying though. This is especially true for missions where the landscape is quite large and you have to restart right as you're coming to the conclusion. Ah, well - when I get time to game, this is offering me a prolonged experience in something to say the very least. Play video games, they help you forget shit in the real world... sort of like meditation without the hassle.

Oh, and King Kong is out on DVD now. If you haven't seen it, give it a chance. It's pretty tasty.

fuzmeister: Continuing Adventures in Emulation
So there's this website being advertised on television. It's called GameTap, and for you uninitiated, it's basically legal emulation. I think it's kind of cool that the industry is offering a legal way to enjoy these titles at last. For too long have classic games been ignored by the very companies that depended on them a mere ten or twenty years ago.

If you're bored (or ignorant to other means of emulation), nav on over to the site and try it out! In the meantime, I'm going to continue to play Pokemon Emerald with my girlfriend. Yay!

fuzmeister: Ode To Punk Rock
Punk rock truly has influenced me. I think that any guitar player that has started playing guitar in the past twenty five years has to have been influenced by punk rock's simple melodies and socially-oriented lyrics. For me, bands like The Offspring, The Ramones, or Social Distortion really bring the punk feeling home. Loud, simple guitar riffs backed with steady drumming and basic bass. Punk has never been about appealing to people or selling itself - it's been about communicating a message and getting in your face.

This is my ode to punk. Thank you, everyone who is in this industry.

fuzmeister: Developer's Notes
Ok - so, accounting for a lot of different things, I'm trying to decide what needs to be done to properly bring S+F Software into the year 2006.

  • Trevor 1, 2, and 3 need to be remade - the graphics in T3 aren't terrible, but Andrew Bado's graphics really brought a lot to the S+F table. 1 and 2 need to be remade with new graphics and gameplay mechanics if nothing else. These are good games, but often dismissed because of the presentation. I understand completely; 1998 and 1999 - they're friggin' old.
  • Freefallers could still be a released title, but it needs a major overhaul. This was basically a title I did in order to showcase Bado's graphics. Gameplay was not shelled out well though. There were three players and three levels. Digital poop.
  • At least two new projects should be released in 2006. I have been throwing a ton of ideas around forever, but nothing has been able to happen without a pixel artist. We need a competent pixel artist!
  • Innovation FTW - I've been hell-bent on doing semi-original, fun projects forever. I have no visions of doing endless sequels or eye-candy-based first person shooters.

That is all.

fuzmeister: Data Dump, Volume I

I'm pretty darn sure that finding these through google has motivated me to jump-start S+F Software again. Brandon, Kyle, others - c'mon! When I get more time, I'm going to do the new site and upload it. Perhaps DX versions are in order for all games too. Anyone know any pixel artists?
