Brandon: Busy...
Sorta.

So here is where I work

Wilder Technologies

Its not a bad place, but currently I'm the only programmer working on the software. It's actually quite an elegant design. A shining example of object oriented programming. However, all that abstraction makes it difficult to work with sometimes.

Anyways, Its a nice place here. Really small company and all that. All in all I like it.

More later, probably.

Working Hard: or hardly working?

Brandon: I'm getting all AJAXed up!
So, yeah, I got bored.

I noticed that the Picasa albums were sometimes causing the site to load slowly since the rest of the site had to wait until they were loaded to show properly.

So, I decided to change that, and using a little AJAX (with very little of the X part) the albums now load using JavaScript. The rest of the page will show and the albums should load momentarialy after the page does.

It works in Firefox, Safari, and IE7. It *might* work in IE6, and it *should* work in Opera.

If you have any questions or comments let me know.

Brandon: More new features
Ok, so I got a little creative, and implemented some simple tags to make editing posts and comments a little easier.

I think the regex's and recursion works decently now. And I implemented a code tag, so here is a short tutorial on how to make this new stuff work.

HTML still works, I may remove it at some point due to security concerns, but, I'm lazy, so probably not.

Code:

Vent2's quick and dirty BBCode hack.

[b]text[/b] - [b] - Bold

[i]text[/i] - [i] - Italic

[img]http://pathto.img[/img] - [img] - Image, place path to image within the [img][/img] tags

[url]http://www.site.url[/url] - [url] Creates a link to the location between the [url][/url] tags.

[url="http://www.site.url"]Link[/url] = [url] Creates a link to the site with the name contained between the tags

[quote]Quote[/quote] - [quote] Quotes text.

[quote="Brandon"]Quote[/quote] - [quote] - Quotes text and attribues the quote to the name in quotes.

[code]Code!
- Code:

 - The code block, to show off code and stuff.

Also, HTML does not work inside [code] blocks, for example.

<a href="http://www.sevensoupcans.com/vent2">Vent</a>

So, some quick examples
Bold text with Italics inside the tag

Quote Darth Vader
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Vent 2

Ok: I am done, I promise

Brandon: Piece of Cake

So, I got the new Cake album a couple weeks ago. This one is called B-Sides and Rarities, and is pretty much a collection of covers and a couple originals. Overall the album has a bit too much country for my taste. However, any band that puts Mahna-Mahna on their album gets credit in my book. Basically, though, it's Cake. The live version of War Pigs which ends the album is a bit better than the studio version that begins it.

Another bonus is the scratch-and-sniff cover art. I got roses, or something. Not as many car references in this album, but, there is the cover art, as you can see above, or to the left, or whatever.

Anyway, I liked the album, but not as much as their previous release, Pressure Chief. I'd say its a must for fans, but if you aren't sure you should check out the samples of the tracks on the website

Mmmmm: Cake
Simpsons: Movie, tonight.
Midnight: showing? Should I go?
